Mr. William Randall “Billy” Seymour, age 83, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 3, 2026, at his residence in Bowman, GA.
The sixth of eight children, Billy was born in Elberton, GA on April 14, 1943. His parents, William Hubert Seymour and Pauline Beatrice Parham Seymour, along with his grandparents, raised the family in the Rehoboth Community of Bowman, GA. At the age of 19, he married the love of his life, Amelia Gray Fleming, when she was 16. They enjoyed nearly 61 years of marriage until her death on April 24, 2024. Billy was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he previously served as a Deacon. He was currently attending Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowshipping with his church family.
A jack of all trades, Billy was a hard-worker, doing everything he could to provide for his family. He worked in maintenance by trade, starting at Elberton Mill before joining the granite industry. After working for various granite companies, Billy gained employment at Century Granite Company, from which he retired after 30 years of service. His retirement years were spent with Amelia by his side, being “Papa”, and never missing an opportunity to love on and spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many of their fondest memories were made at or with Papa and Granny, especially family trips to Pigeon Forge, TN.
An avid outdoorsman, he never missed an opportunity to play a round of golf or go on a fishing trip. Billy and Amelia were avid campers, spending most weekends on Clarks Hill Lake, camping at Bobby Brown Park, and later at their place at the Elbert County Fish and Game Club. Billy will be remembered for his humble spirit, kind heart, and sweet smile.
He is survived by his children: Virgil (Terri) Seymour and Tina (Scott Brown) Edwards; grandchildren: Josh (McKenzi) Seymour, Myra (Evan) Harris, Matthew (Ashlie) Seymour Abby (Taylor Bennett) Seymour, and Emily Edwards; great-grandchildren: Jameson, Kendal, Emersyn, Kamdyn, Oakes, and Hudson; sisters: Judy (Milton) Seigler and Lynn Herndon; and host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents and wife, Billy is preceded in death by his siblings: Caroleen Ruff, T.C. Seymour, Beth Clinton, Mary Edwards, and Pat Seymour.
The family is at the home of Tina Edwards, 1026 Edwards Drive, Elberton, and will receive friends on Thursday, August 6, from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating Billy's life will be conducted on Friday, August 7, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Jamie Callaway officiating.
Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Josh Seymour, Matt Seymour, Nathan Herndon, Cal Clinton, Danny Ray Parham, Marc Fleming, Ryan Seigler, and Jeff Seigler serving as pallbearers.
Flowers are accepted, and contributions may be made in his memory to Faith Baptist Church, 2827 Bowman Highway, Bowman, GA 30624.
