William Howard "Bill" Talbot, Jr.

William H. “Bill” Talbot Jr., of Atlanta GA passed away on June 13, 2024 in Greenville, SC at Rolling Green Village retirement community. He had a long battle with Dementia, he passed away at 82 years old.

He graduated from Northside High School in Atlanta, GA class of 1959. He was also a graduate of the University of Georgia in 1965 with a BS in Education minoring in history. 

He is survived by his wife Carole Smith Talbot of 58 years formally from Elberton, GA his daughter Leslie Talbot Armstrong, son-in-law Steve, grandsons Michael-Talbot and Brooks all of Suwanee, GA, son William H “Trey” Talbot III of Greenville, SC, siblings: sister Emalyn and husband, David Klaitz of Dahlonega, GA and sister Gaye and Husband Captain Don Maconi of Naples, Italy, brother-in-law Colonel Robert "Bobby" H. Smith and wife Barbara of Williamsburg, VA, sister-in-Law Ann Smith Brown of Stephens, GA, sister-in-law Frances Smith of Franklin, NC, along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his infant daughter Laura Glyn Talbot, brother-in-law Cecil “Squat-low” Smith, and brother-in-law Milton Charles “Mickey” Smith and brother-in-law Larry Brown.

Among Bill’s many accomplishments were an athletic scholarship to UGA in Springboard diving. In his senior year he with his team won the SEC title. Later in life he also played ALTA - (Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association) reaching AA-3 level. He earned and received his license and instrument rating in flying private planes. He was definitely an entrepreneur, owning many businesses throughout his life. His biggest accomplishment was “Talbot Tennis”, building tennis courts all over the southeast. There was not much he wouldn’t try. He was fearless and very much a self-taught man, who loved his family unconditionally. 

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on August 17 at 1:30 at Rolling Green Village in Greenville, SC. Officiating services will be Chaplain, David Newton of Rolling Green Village.
